PSGWS mailing list FAQ updated 10/1/2006 This FAQ can be found at http://www.psgws.org/psgwsfaq.txt How do I unsubscribe? Either of 2 ways: 1. By e-mail. Send a blank message addressed to PSGWS-unsubscribe@groups.queernet.org You must send it FROM the address that is subscribed. Send it. You'll get back a message from Queernet asking you to verify. Follow the directions in the message. 2. Or, you can unsubscribe on the web. Go to http://groups.queernet.org/cgi-bin/mj_wwwusr Click the "Sign In" link. Log in using your e-mail address and your Queernet password. Click on "Unsubscribe or Change Settings" You'll get a list of all the Queernet mailing lists you subscribe to. Check the box next to "PSGWS", then click "Unsubscribe" How can I change the settings for my subscription? You can control your subscription either on the web or by e-mail. 1. On the web, go to http://groups.queernet.org/cgi-bin/mj_wwwusr Click the "Sign In" link. Log in using your e-mail address and your Queernet password. Click on "Unsubscribe or Change Settings" You'll get a list of all the Queernet mailing lists you subscribe to. Check the boxes for the list(s) you want to change. There are pop-down lists that allow you to select a digest version, each message as it is posted, or no mail at all. After making your changes click the "Set" button. 2. By e-mail, address a message to majordomo@groups.queernet.org You must send it FROM the address that is subscribed. In the BODY of the message you can put commands to change your settings. Here are some of them: To unsubscribe type: UNSUBSCRIBE PSGWS To select the digest version type: SET PSGWS DIGEST To get the regular version (each message sent as it is posted) type: SET PSGWS EACH To stop all mail, but remain subscribed type: SET PSGWS NOMAIL To restart mail after stopping it type: SET PSGWS MAIL To stop mail for a period of time with automatic restart type: SET PSGWS NOMAIL-7D That's for a 7 day ("7D") suspension. Change the number to however many days suits you. Any of these messages will cause Queernet to send you an e-mail to verify. If you don't respond to that e-mail, your subscription will not change. Are there other ways to handle my subscription? Yes, if it's all too much for you, just write to PSGWS-owner@groups.queernet.org and tell us in plain English what you want done, and we'll try to do it. What's my Queernet password? When you first subscribed to a Queernet list a password was e-mailed to you. You might have saved that message (but nobody does). To get it again, go to http://groups.queernet.org/cgi-bin/mj_wwwusr Click "Sign In" Enter your e-mail address in the field labeled "Lost Password? E-mail Address:" Click "Mail My Password" and a new password will be e-mailed to you. After you get it, you can use it to log in and change your password to something you can remember. Where are the pictures? Pictures are sent on the mailing list. You must be subscribed to the PSGWS mailing list with a REGULAR subscription. You will not get the pictures if you have a DIGEST subscription. Other than that, we don't have a picture gallery. We're here so that Palm Springs pissmen can hook up other pissmen. If you want just pictures there are lots of other mailing lists and websites that can give you lots of watersports pictures. Why don't I get the pictures? You probably are subscribed to the DIGEST version. If you want to get the pictures (and other attachments) you must subscribe to the REGULAR version of the PSGWS mailing list. If you do get the regular version and still can't get the pictures, it's probably be due to a technical problem for you or the sender. AOL users (for example) have frequent problems both sending and receiving pictures. How do I read messages on the web? Where is the message archive? 1. go to http://groups.queernet.org/cgi-bin/mj_wwwusr 2. click "SIGN IN" 3. sign in with your e-mail address and password 4. click "Unsubscribe or Change Settings" 5. scroll down a bit and you'll see a list of all the Queernet groups you're subscribed to. Next to the name of each group is an "(INFO)" link. 6. click the (INFO) link for PSGWS or one of your other subscribed groups 7. scroll down until you see "MESSAGE ARCHIVES" 8. click "SUMMARY" 9. you'll see a list of monthly archives going back to September 2005. You can view messages in order by Author, Subject, Date or Thread. Where are the profiles? Profiles are posted as messages on the mailing list. Where are the parties? Read the mailing list. Anyone who hosts or organizes a party gets to decide where it is. Why do I get this message about something being removed? That message is inserted in the DIGEST version wherever an attachment (such as a picture) is removed. Here is an example of the message: [Attachment of type image/jpeg removed.] Why am I getting the digest? You either asked for it, or your mail was bouncing so we changed your subscription to the digest version to save ourselves some work. How do I find out who's on this list? The subscriber list is private. I sent a message, why didn't it show up on the list? Did you address it correctly to PSGWS@groups.Queernet.org ? If so, then it may be waiting for approval by the moderator. New subscribers may be "moderated" temporarily to prevent spam or other inappropriate postings. Very large messages are also moderated. You can contact the moderator by sending an e-mail to PSGWS-Owner@groups.Queernet.org Why don't I get any PSGWS mail? Sometimes the list is just quiet. Or your mail may have been suspended for bouncing messages. If your inbox is full, your mail gets "bounced" back to the sender. If your PSGWS messages start bouncing then no messages from PSGWS will be sent to you for 7 days. After 7 days we start sending you messages again. If the messages start bouncing again, then you are removed from the PSGWS mailing list. To find out if you are suspended or unsubscribed you can go to the Queernet website (http://groups.queernet.org/cgi-bin/mj_wwwusr) and log in. If PSGWS is not in your list of groups, then you have been unsubscribed. If it's in your list of groups, but your e-mail setting says "No Mail" then your mail has been suspended. You can turn it back on yourself right there. Or, an easier way to check on this is just to write to the moderator at PSGWS-Owner@groups.Queernet.org and ask. If you have been unsubscribed, you can resubscribe in the usual way (see above).
